This Is The Best Game EVER!!!

This is before the game- before things got a little crazy . . .

Today was full of lots of fun and friends. Church was a lot of fun and there were a lot of good things said and taught. We also got volunteered for hosting a brownie party that night after ward prayer, so we were busy with prep for that. At the party some people noticed Fireball Island sitting in the kitchen, and we got together a crowd to play. What followed was one of the most rousing, loud, crazy games that I have ever played. It lasted almost two hours!!! We were jumping up and down, shouting, laughing, joking, teasing, and cheering. Wow. This game has given me more joy in the last few weeks than I can even believe! It's just too fun to watch people revert to their childhood selves and enjoy some friendly competition. One guy even told me that he would see us next week for another game. Can't wait!

This is how the ending went. All good feelings toward each other completely gone! Can you tell who won from this picture?

An Eventful Day

I woke up late for work today. I woke up at 10, and was supposed to be at work at 10. Not a very good start to the day. However, it just got better from there. After work Rach and I decided that we wanted to do something artsy. We went to the dollar store and came up with the idea that we wanted to do a coloring contest. So we grabbed a box of crayons, a coloring book each, and headed home.

For the contest we chose three different themes, and we had to color our picture according to the theme. I had a Whinnie the Pooh and Tigger coloring book, so I thought I had a little bit of an advantage. I won two of the three themes! Woo hoo! Here is the picture of my "Thug Whinnie the Pooh"
Notice the bling around his neck, his notched eyebrow, the Adidas kicks, the green boxers hanging out of the sagging jeans, the Superman tattoo on his neck, and the big diamond earring. Attention to details, that is what I'm all about! Oh yeah, and Pooh was headed for a street ball game right after he made his deal- notice the basketball. Yeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhh boyyyyyyy!

We capped off the day with a birthday party for a friend and the movie Stardust. One of my faves. It's been a great weekend so far! Woo hoo!

New President

Today Barak Obama was sworn into office. I am full of mixed feelings. I want to believe him and his promises, but I am pretty skeptical. Personally, I don't think he will be able to make good on all the promises he made on the campaign trail. I hope he proves me wrong.

Regardless, his inauguration speech was very motivating. It was well written and inspiring. At this point, I think that is what the American people needed. Obama is now the president of my nation, and I respect him for that. This will definitely be an interesting couple of years . . .

Jane Eyre - Getting Better!

So over Thanksgiving break Jessie gave the women of the family a copy of Jane Eyre to read together. I think this was to give us something more substantial and less scandalous than the year before- when we read "Cowboy Vet" (Yeah. It's a cheesy cheap romance novel. It was amazing. How could you not love a book that has lines like "What woman's heart wouldn't melt for a man who doctored furry little things for a living?". Like I said- amazing).

Things got a little hectic for me before Christmas, so I couldn't read very much. Then I lost track of the book over Christmas. Then it sat on my bedside table for a long time. Just yesterday, when I was home sick, did I remember the book and how i was getting to exciting parts. I cracked it, and drowned myself in 50 pages before I knew what hit me. Nice.

So thank you Jessie. I am only at pg. 250, but I am really getting into the whole book. Jane just went to see Mrs. Reed on her deathbed. Rochester didn't want Jane to go and tried to con her out of her money. Good choice. I will keep you updated on my progress! Now it's off to bed and a little reading! Woo hoo!

Rah's Trick Roach

I forgot to mention something from the Star Wars Marathon. Rah (Rachel) was sitting on the floor and kept trying to get me to eat some popcorn. I didn't want any, so I kept refusing. Finally, I adjusted my blanket so I could get up to get a drink, and this popped out of my blanket!
Rah and I started screaming and jumping around- the roach followed everywhere we went! I was screaming and running around, trying to hit it with my shoe. I kept throwing the shoe and the roach would move out of the way! Finally, after about a minute, the roach got trapped in the doorjamb of the pantry, and I shut the door on it. I fully expected to see a ton of guts and roach bits smeared all over the doorjamb. But when I opened the door, the roach was fully intact. I got a little suspicious, and when I looked closer, I saw a very thin clear bit of fishing line attached to the roach. I turned and yelled "RACHEL!!!!!" knowing full well it was her little trick. We both burst into laughter and giggles for the next ten minutes. It was great!

Nerdy? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

My feelings in the last 24 hours:

1. The fact that we are having a Star Wars marathon- not feeling nerdy.
2. Being excited for the marathon all day at work (I mean REALLY excited!)- no nerdiness felt.
3. Parking on the couch with tons of treats and blankets- still not feeling nerdy.
4. Having a roomie reject our invitation to join in on the marathon because she had to " . . . ah . . . go to the gym . . ."- nope, nerdy feeling still not there.
5. Humming and singing along to the songs in the movie- not gonna lie, a little nerdy feeling creeping in.
6. Having the pizza delivery man declare that you are "the coolest girls EVER for having a Star Wars marathon" on a Saturday night- OVERWHELMING FEELING OF NERDINESS!!!

Okay, So my friend Rach texted me the other day to timidly ask me if we could have a Star Wars marathon. I had actually been thinking of this very same thing for the last few days, so I jumped at the chance! We scheduled it for tonight, since we both wanted some chill time. I got back from visiting with a friend around 4:30, and we made ourselves comfy- Jollytime Blast O' Butter popcorn, Sour Patch Kids, Dr. Pepper, the works.

After the first two hours we started getting a little hungry. We called Papa Johns and ordered a pizza for delivery. Little did we know that our deliveryman would make us feel ridiculously uncool and bad about ourselves when he freaked out that we were having a Star Wars marathon on a Saturday night. "A Star Wars marathon?! You have to be the coolest girls EVER!" That is a direct quote, people. I think he saw the smile slowly melt from my face.

I am ashamed.

Cheesecake Factory

Tonight I had the absolute privilege of running up to Murray to eat at the CHEESECAKE FACTORY!!! This is my absolute favorite restaurant, and I am so glad Lindz came in to town so we could go.

Some people may not know, but their Miso salmon changed my life. I had abhorred seafood until I tried it. Once I had it, I could not get enough. It has opened my eyes to new ways of eating fish, and now I don't have to take any nasty Omega fatty acid supplements! Woo hoo!

Miso salmon. Try it. Love it. Let it change your life. :)

Wowee Wow Wow!

It's been a long frickin' time since I have posted! Man, I stink at this. Just to make me feel better, and to help a friend with a birthday and Christmas gift, I will try to go back and do a couple of posts for the Holidays. A lot of cool things happened. Well, let's start with the last few days . . .

Lindz is in town, so we've been hanging around. Lots of movies, food, laughing, stories, visits, and good times. Fireball Island will probably go down as the favorite activity for the time she's been here. We played Sunday evening with my brother and sister-in-law, then invited some hardcore friends over to play, then played two games with just the two of us there. We are amazing, what can I say?

Shout out to my girl Rach- she took us out for dinner at Chili's tonight and it was AWESOME! Yum. Just gotta love their chicken crispers and honey mustard. Maybe one day I will try something different there.

My room has become a pit. I don't know why I can't just get it clean and keep it clean, but it just seems like I am losing the battle with cleanliness. HELP!

Okay, I know this post is lame, but I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. Phew. Oh, and I still haven't heard anything about the move yet. I will keep you all posted!
