Funny from the girls

So quick post here, but Lindz and I were listening to David Cassidy's "I Think I Love You" the other day- it's a favorite with our group of friends. We are singing along to the chorus, and David sings "Before I go insane, I hold my pillow to my head". I sing this verse, but Lindz goes off on her own lyrics, and sings very loudly, "Before I go insane, I call my mom and talk about it". I just died laughing! Mama Shep, you are going to have a lot of phone calls if your girl decides to call you every time she has a boy!!!

My Trin's BDay!

So it is my niece Trinity's birthday today and I was looking at past pics of her- what a cutie!!! She's so sassy and full of energy, I love her. I have a lot of fun memories with those kids, but here are a few gems that I want to share:

1. The time Trinity, JC, Aunt Jessie, and I were all jumping on the trampoline over the summer, and Trinity started instructing us on what to say when we jumped into the air. Ever the choreographer (and bossy little girl), Trinity proceeded to tell us how we were going to do our jumps, and how we needed to yell. When it was her turn, we asked what she was going to say, and she wouldn't tell us. Then she got up speed, made a big jump in the air, and yelled out "For the DAY!". All of us collapsed laughing on the tramp. Newsies, anyone?

2. Trinity and I gave each other makeovers during Thanksgiving break. I can tell you, I looked HOT!

3. If you didn't know, Trin is the best dancer in the world. She has several videos of not only her performing, but choreographing dances for others to do. The ballet and tap dance videos that Sarah has are priceless! So is the one of Trinity and Aunt Jessie rolling on the floor in 80's prom dresses doing a choreographed dance that neither of them can remember. Awesome!

Sarah and Todd, you have done a great job raising your kids. You are amazing parents, and I hope I can have as great kids as you have. Happy Birthday, Miss Trin!

Tubing and catch up

Okay, I thought I would be better at blogging and put in entries more frequently, but there has been a lot going on! Let's see if I can get people up to speed.

Saturday was fantastic! I was able to wheedle my way out of working on a Saturday for the first time in 7 months, and my ward went tubing up in the canyon. It was a gorgeous day- we were perfectly fine in t-shirts and jeans. They had a lift that would pull you up the mountain, and then you tubed down a track to the bottom. Lazy man's sledding, I LOVE IT! Shawn was our photographer because he didn't want to risk injuring his knee further. This also meant that some of the pics are blurry or bad because of the angle he had to shoot it from. Oh well. He was such a good sport about it the whole time! He had to borrow Lindz's sunglasses since he couldn't see, but he ended up with a nice sunburn around those glasses. We all got a touch of sun, but Shawn was the worst since he's a redhead.

Lindz's authentic wolf hat and furry boots from her mission in Romania were officially the biggest hit of the day too. Some people knew she was just being funny, but the comments from those that weren't sure were hilarious! They tried to compliment her, but just couldn't find words. Love it.

Speaking of Lindz, she is now dating Forrest, the guy from the hockey game picture. Through some random events, I actually thought they would be better matched and decided to set them up. Who knew?! They make a much better couple, and I have other things occupying my thoughts right now . . . (mischievous grin!)

Bowling, Playing Hooky, and Bets

Okay, now I know that playing hooky is bad. I never skipped a class until college. Today was one of those days when I skipped. Shawn, Lindz, and I all went bowling this afternoon. We had such a great time- me especially since I cleaned up in all the games! Shawn doesn't like to lose, so he kept challenging me to new games. Each and every time with the same result- ME WINNING! I love my life . . .

After I spanked him in four games of bowling (I even got a turkey! Three strikes in a row!), Shawn decided to challenge me in pool and see if he could win at that game. No such luck. He lost five games of 9-ball. I think I am just on a winning streak! Should I play the lottery? Because he wanted motivation to win, we bet on three of the games of pool, and Shawn now owes me, 1) Breakfast at Magelby's restaurant (so good!), 2) dessert at the Melting Pot in SLC (chocolate fondue at its finest and most expensive), and 3) a homemade gourmet dinner cooked by him! Man, I cleaned up! I am actually only holding him to the dinner one. We'll see if he decides to come through on the others.

Here are a few pics from bowling. I had to be Shawn's "caddy" since he couldn't crutch up to the lane very well. He still bowled some great games so don't start feeling sorry for him! Lindz also threw down some great scores. She pulled out all the stops and rocked the Granny-shot. What a woman.

Challah! (That's for you, Jessie) Skip-Bo, and Inside Water Fights

Hey Mom, here's a post for you. I haven't made Challah bread in forever, so I decided to try and remember how. The result was a little disappointing, with Shawn asking, "Is that unleavened bread?" Whatever! Shawn downed two HUGE pieces right before he said that. Okay, so he was kidding, but the bread was pretty flat. I'm kind of bummed since I ruined your good recipe! Well, practice makes perfect. Hopefully the next batch turns out better . . .

So Shawn (one of my friends) came back from Oregon tonight and headed over to my apartment for some good Skip-Bo competition. He heard that I had been on a roll and decided he should be the one to bring me down from my pedestal. Whatever. Our series is tied 2-2, and I was about to win the tie-breaker when he threw a bottle of water on me in my kitchen! It was on from that point, and we both ended up soaked. Too bad I didn't get any pics. We looked pretty good.

Ward Date Night

So,

Being part of a BYU singles ward is great. The ward pays for me to go out on dates! This is Forrest and I at a UVSC/Boise St. hockey game. He's one of those tough guys- doesn't like to smile for pics. Well, we left early since the game was already a killing, and headed to iHop. Fun and lots of laughs followed. It was a great night overall!

I'm on a blog!

Well, since I am so bad at keeping in touch, I decided to follow my family's suit and create a blog. Hopefully this will keep people updated on my life and the busy nothings that fill it!
